The Institut de la Main is an internationally-recognized training center. It offers 3 residency positions each semester. Residencies last for 6 months, starting in April and October.
Residents participate in operating room, consultation and emergency room activities. They receive theoretical training through one weekly lecture and one monthly staff meeting. In addition, they conduct clinical research or experimental work during their internship, under the guidance of the Institut de la Main staff.
The Institut de La Main takes part in the University Diploma of Hand Surgery in partnership with the Faculté de Médecine Paris - Saint-Antoine, and in the University Diploma of Microsurgery in partnership with the Faculté de Médecine Descartes, Paris V.

Residents participate in all activities of the Institut de la Main (operating room, consultations, scientific studies). They do not carry out surgical procedures themselves but participate as first assistants. Residents receive personalized practical and theoretical training (courses, staff meetings, bibliography).
Generally 6 months
Summer semester: from April 1 to September 30
Winter semester: October 1 to March 30
Applicants must have completed their basic surgical training in either orthopedic or plastic surgery. Their French level must be B2 or higher.

In 20 years of existence, the INSTITUT DE LA MAIN has become one of the main hand and upper limb surgery centers in Europe. Its nine surgeons on staff can treat all hand and upper limb problems.
