Cartilage wear of the humeral head and the glenoid fossa, primary or secondary to an isolated trauma, or associated to tendon lesions.
Clinical signs : pain, stiffness and loss of mobility

 

  • Standard X-Rays
  • Joint narrowing
  • Bony formation

 

MRI

  • 3D PET Scan : Allows to detect bone deformity, and muscle trophicity. Also used for pre-op evaluation.
  • MRI : For tendon and muscle evaluation.

 

 

Palliative care :

  • Analgesic medications
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Injections
  • Physiotherapy

Surgical care :

  • Shoulder replacement

 

Which Implant ?

  • If the rotator cuff is functional: anatomic prosthesis
  • If the rotator cuff is in bad shape: reverse total shoulder arthroplasty
  • If the glenoid fossa is intact: humeral implant

Implant Longevity

  • 10 to 15 or 20 years
  • It is possible to perform redo surgery in case of loosening of the glenoid implant
  • Benefit of a universal implant
